College Player Officials Academies

Calling all current and former lacrosse players, and coaches!

This is the second year of an initiative sponsored by US Lacrosse and the IWLCA to recruit and train lacrosse players as the next generation of college officials! This pilot program hopes to remediate the growing shortage of officials by recruiting lacrosse players who already have a fundamental understanding of the game.

Benefits for the athlete:

  • Stay in the game after graduation!
  • The athlete will receive a rating at the end of the weekend! The rating  is used in all 50 states, so she can officiate anywhere upon completion of the training; including current summer tournaments!
  • HUGE and continuous return on investment! There are plenty of tournaments in the fall, winter and summer, along with high school games in the spring! Tournament fees average $1/minute, with each official averaging six to ten 50 minute games per tournament! (Ex: 50 minute games x 10 games= $500 in one weekend)
  • Get paid to stay in shape, and improve your lacrosse knowledge.
