Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach. Stevens is a member of the Empire 8 and NCAA Division III and offers 26 varsity sports (13 for men and 13 for women), 14 club sports, a wide variety of intramural sports and special events, an extensive outdoor adventure program and a wide selection of wellness/fitness classes. Located in Hoboken, New Jersey, a historic small town that is just minutes away from Manhattan, Stevens has an enrollment of over 3,200 undergraduate students.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred. Previous lacrosse coaching and playing experience at the collegiate level is strongly preferred. A background in exercise science or fitness is preferred. Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED is required and can be attained upon start date. The successful candidate is expected to complete a number of other trainings and professional development activities as they are offered at the university.
Responsibilities: Assist the head coach in managing all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program. The top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and enhancing a positive and healthy team culture that encourages growth and development.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in all of the following areas including the oversight of student-athlete academic progress; recruitment of appropriate student-athletes; planning and direction of team training sessions and game days; film assessments, planning game and training tactical strategies; tracking of team budgets; ordering team supplies and equipment; fund raising and alumni relations; coordination of team travel; and any other duties as needed.
The second part of the position involves management of the Stevens community fitness center under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation. Duties include but are not limited to, hiring and supervision of student staff; oversight and maintenance of all fitness equipment; ensuring that the facility is always clean and in good working order; and coordinating programming and other fitness and wellness related activities.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
