IWLCA President Kathy Taylor, who is the head coach at Le Moyne College, has announced the results of the 2018 IWLCA Board of Directors election. Five vacancies were contested in this election cycle, including one for an Executive Committee position, and one for the first ever NAIA representative. All new board members began their three-year terms of service on July 1, 2018.
“It’s very exciting to be able to welcome five new members to our Board of Directors, especially since some of them have previously held leadership positions within our organization,” Taylor said. “Our new Board members have significant experience coaching our sport and serving the IWLCA, and they bring a unique understanding of the mission and values of our organization to the table. I look forward to working with them in the upcoming years as we strive to move the IWLCA forward together.”
Ricky Fried, the head coach at Georgetown University, was elected as the new IWLCA Vice-President. Fried previously served the IWLCA as Treasurer of the organization, and most recently served on the Division I All-American committee as the chair of the South region.
Missy Doherty, Head Coach at Penn State University, was elected as a Division I representative. Kelly Gallagher, head coach at the University of Tampa, will serve as Division II Representative, and MK Geratowski, head coach at Randolph-Macon College, is the new Division III Representative. Doherty has prior experience with the IWLCA having previously served as a division I Vice-President, and Gallagher and Geratowski both have significant committee experience. The recent growth of NAIA has allowed that membership group to reach the membership threshold required for representation on the Board of Directors, and Mary Ann Meltzer, head coach at Lawrence Technological University, was elected as the first NAIA Representative.
The IWLCA re-structured the Board of Directors in order to balance Divisional representation in 2017. The new structure includes the four officers comprising the Executive Committee, as well as three Representatives from each Division. Each member of the Board of Directors will serve a three-year term of office.
“I would be remiss if I did not recognize outgoing Board members Alicia Groveston, Meghan McDonough, Kristen Selvage, Scott Tucker, and Mary Schwartz for their outstanding service to the IWLCA,” said Taylor. “I would also like to thank the members of the Nominating Committee for their work soliciting candidates for the open positions and conducting the 2018 election.”
