2018 IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll – April 30, 2018
The College of New Jersey (15-2) maintained its number one ranking with 23 of 25 first place votes in this week’s Division III Coaches Poll. The top seven teams all held onto their spots as well, and there were no new entries to the poll this week. Amherst (15-1) sits in second, followed by Salisbury (16-1) in third; both received one first-place vote. Gettysburg (14-2), York (13-3), Middlebury (14-2), and Franklin & Marshall (15-3) stacked up in the fourth through seventh position. Mary Washington (15-3) slipped into eighth, while Trinity (11-5) and Washington and Lee (13-4) both moved up, finishing in a tie for ninth and closing out the top ten.
Almost every major conference champion will be determined this week, and that means we should have several top-25 matchups to look forward to. The Capital Athletic Conference semi-final match on Wednesday features #5 York hosting #8 Mary Washington, and Saturday’s NESCAC semi-finals will pit Trinity (#T-9) against #6 Middlebury, and #13 Bowdoin against #2 Amherst. There is a good chance this weekend’s SUNYAC Championship could come down to a battle between #18 SUNY Cortland and #23 SUNY Geneseo, and the Centennial Conference is likely to feature a matchup between #4 Gettysburg and #7 Franklin & Marshall. William Smith (#16) and #19 Ithaca could potentially meet in the Liberty League Championship, as could #1 TCNJ and #21 Rowan in the NJAC Championship.

The 2018 Coaches Poll has been expanded to include 25 teams in all three NCAA Divisions this year in order to more accurately reflect the growth of the game at the collegiate level in recent years. The Coaches Polls are published every Monday during the regular season.
