2018 IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll – April 23, 2018

The College of New Jersey (13-2) took over the top spot in the Division III Coaches Poll after recording a 10-1 victory over last week’s top team, Salisbury University (15-1). Amherst (13-1) jumped into the second position and the Gulls fell to the third spot, followed by Gettysburg (12-2) and York (12-3) to round out the top five. The second half of the top ten shifted a bit last week, as Middlebury (10-2) moved into the sixth position, Franklin & Marshall (13-3) fell to seventh, Tufts (11-3) dropped to number eight, and Mary Washington (13-3) and Washington and Lee (12-4) held in the ninth and tenth spots.

Top-25 action gets underway on Wednesday this week, when Bowdoin (#13) hosts #8 Tufts, Mary Washington (#9) visits Catholic (#15), Ithaca (#19) travels to Hamilton (RV), and Trinity (#11) hosts #2 Amherst. The NESCAC quarterfinal round is being held this weekend, and could potentially feature several top-25 matchups when the pairings are announced on Wednesday.

The 2018 Coaches Poll has been expanded to include 25 teams in all three NCAA Divisions this year in order to more accurately reflect the growth of the game at the collegiate level in recent years. The Coaches Polls are published every Monday during the regular season.
