Mercyhurst University, Assistant Coach (F/T)

Mercyhurst University places a special emphasis on the teaching component of coaching positions.  Participation in sport at Mercyhurst University builds on the important lessons students learn in the classroom.  Mercyhurst views athletics as an extension and important part of the education and teaching mission of the University.  Student-athletes are learning teamwork, ethics, discipline, and skill sets that will enhance their ability to succeed after leaving the University.  The “teaching” on one’s sport and the related lessons that accompany participation in athletics are the primary and central functions of each coaching position at Mercyhurst University.


Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for initiating various aspects of the program, such as recruiting, scheduling opponents, and training squad members.  The Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Mercyhurst University, the PSAC and the NCAA.


  • Recruit, train, and coach members of the lacrosse program
  • Coordinate total development and promotion of the program
  • Organize and schedule practice sessions
  • Perform administrative tasks including budget formulation
  • Represent Mercyhurst University and the lacrosse program in a professional manner
  • Assist in fundraising efforts
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein


  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Three to five years colligate coaching experience including effective leadership, communication, coaching and recruiting skills is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
