The IWLCA National Players of the Week for Divisions I, II, and III, are announced on Wednesdays on "IWLCA Weekly, Presented by ILWomen." WATCH the full episode.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week

Jamie Ortega – University of North Carolina

Ortega scored a career-high six goals in Saturday’s 13-12 win over Notre Dame, including five in the second half as the Tar Heels overcame a four-goal halftime deficit to beat the 22nd-ranked Fighting Irish. Ortega’s six goals came on just nine shot attempts. Ortega also had two goals, one assist, two caused turnovers and a draw control in Wednesday’s 13-12 win over #17 Virginia Tech.

Defensive Player of the Week

Callie Humphrey – Duke University

Tasked with marking Syracuse’s Nicole Levy in Saturday’s matchup at the Carrier Dome, Humphrey held one of the Orange’s leading scorers to zero points and zero shots. Humphrey was part of a stifling defensive effort that helped the Blue Devils beat the Orange 17-10, including giving up only four goals in the second half. The sophomore defender also matched her career high with four ground balls, helping Duke hold a 21-18 edge in the category, and added one caused turnover.


Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Sarah Myres – Regis University

Myres had another busy week as she helped #12 Regis to two wins. Myres tallied 10 total points through both games. The junior scored two goals and had one assist in the 11-10 win over Westminster College. The next game, Myres scored four goals and added three assists in the 16-9 takedown of the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks. She put 12-of-18 shots on goal.

Defensive Player of the Week

Brianna Demilia – Grand Valley State University

DeMilia set program the record for saves in a single game with 17 stops against McKendree in the Lakers 19-13 win on Saturday. She also recorded 12 saves against the #8 team in the nation when GVSU beat Indianapolis 17-10 last Thursday. DeMilia also added three ground balls and one caused turnover last week.


Division III

Offensive Player of the Week

Kyra Bednarski – Stevens Institute of Technology

Sophomore attacker Kyra Bednarski had an impressive week for the Ducks as she had 10 points (seven goals and three assists) in two wins over ranked opponents. She scored a hat-trick, including the game winner, against #12 Wesleyan on Wednesday. Bednarski assisted on the goal to tie the game 9-9 with 11:45 remaining and then scored unassisted with 2:14 left play for the game-winner. On Saturday, she scored four goals and two assists against #20 St. John Fisher. 

Defensive Player of the Week

Elizabeth Morrison – The College of New Jersey

Morrison set career highs in both caused turnovers (10) and ground balls (9) in the Lions win over #2 Middlebury. In the Lions game vs. #1 Gettysburg, Morrison led all players in ground balls (4), caused turnovers (4), and draw controls (7). Morrison moved into fourth on the Lions career ground ball list.
