IWLCA Players of the Week: March 28, 2018

The IWLCA National Players of the Week for Divisions I, II, and III, are announced on Wednesdays on "IWLCA Weekly, Presented by ILWomen." WATCH the full episode.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week

Megan Whittle University of Maryland

Whittle led the team in goals (7) and points (10), while tying for the team lead in assists (3) in a pair of Top-10 wins for the Terps. She scored a team-best four goals against Penn and tied for the team lead with five points in a win over James Madison, while adding two draw controls and a ground ball last week. She also reached the 250-goal mark for her career in the win over the Dukes.

Defensive Player of the Week

Allie DaCar – Stanford University

DaCar did not allow a goal in the final 18:08 of regulation and all 8:37 of the multi-overtime comeback victory over #13 USC. She made seven straight saves in that time as Stanford overcame a four-goal deficit in the final 13 minutes to earn a 12-11 victory and move into first place in the Pac-12. Overall, she made 12 saves against the Trojans with a .522 save percentage. On Friday, she made five saves and allowed just five goals against Arizona State. For the week, DaCar went 2-0 and made 17 saves with a .515 save percentage. She also scooped up three ground balls.


Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Bryanna Fazio – Le Moyne College

Fazio tallied 11 goals, including the 100th of her career, and collected 16 draw controls in Le Moyne's 2-0 week. She scored six goals (on six shots) and posted four draw controls and two ground balls in an 18-8 win at Franklin Pierce on Tuesday. She netted five goals, the third of which was the 100th of her career, and tied a program record with 12 draw controls in a 13-6 victory over then #12 Pace on Friday.

Defensive Player of the Week

Malorie Olin – Rollins College

Olin faced 49 shots last week, making 23 saves for a save percentage of .639 on the week. She allowed just 13 goals, recording a 6.50 goals against average. Against #6 Limestone, Olin faced 18 shots on goal from the Saints, making 11 saves while allowing just seven goals. Olin helped Rollins record a 15-6 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne with 12 saves and six goals against. With Olin's help, the Tars have now won nine straight.


Division III

Offensive Player of the Week

Hannah Marafioti – SUNY Geneseo

Marafioti totaled five goals, including what proved to be the game-winner, and an assist in the Knights' 10-8 upset of #9 Ithaca on Saturday after notching three goals in the squad's 15-9 win over visiting RIT on Tuesday. She also added an assist, two ground balls and two caused turnovers to aid her team’s efforts.

Defensive Player of the Week

Gianna Falcone – Salisbury University

Falcone recorded a 6.50 goals against average and .629 save percentage in a 2-0 week against nationally-ranked opponents for the third-ranked Sea Gulls. She totaled 22 saves while allowing just 13 goals in wins over William Smith (#13) and York (#5). In a 12-8 win over William Smith, Falcone recorded nine saves on 17 shots on goal. In an 8-5 victory over No. 5 York, Falcone held the Spartans to just five goals on 18 shots on net, good for a .722 save percentage. She also picked up seven ground balls last week.
