Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park, IL played host to the 2017 IWLCA JUNK Brands Midwest Cup lacrosse tournament this weekend. The regional tournament drew 93 teams comprised of high-school aged prospective student-athletes and their families to the area in its third year. Over 1,600 players competed in front of more than 225 college coaches representing all three NCAA Divisions and the NAIA.

“The weather was beautiful and the facility is top notch. The fields are in pristine condition and all the players and spectators seemed to be having a great time,” said Meredith Black, head coach at Marquette University. The teams played over 187 total games across 11 fields and utilized 45 women’s lacrosse umpires to cover the games.

“I was able to see great talent from all across the Midwest and beyond at the tournament,” Black said. “The Chicago area is a perfect centralized location for all these teams from MI, OH, IL, WI, KY, IN, MN, CO, and more to come together to showcase their talent for the college coaches!”

Next up on the IWLCA Recruiting Tournament calendar is the STX Capital Cup, which will be held at River City Sportsplex, and the Clover Hill Athletic Complex in the Chesterfield County, VA area from July 13-16, 2017.
