IWLCA Announces Establishment of Hall of Fame
Nominations now being accepted

May 15, 2017 – IWLCA President Alicia Groveston has announced the establishment of the IWLCA Hall of Fame. The inaugural Induction Ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in conjunction with the IWLCA Annual Meetings held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida.

“We are very excited about establishing the IWLCA Hall of Fame,” said Groveston. “This is something our membership wholeheartedly supports, and there are many qualified candidates that deserve the recognition. Induction into the Hall of Fame will be the highest honor our organization can bestow, and celebrating the honorees at our Annual Meeting will allow our current generation of coaches to be inspired by those coaches who have achieved excellence over the course of their careers.”

The inaugural Hall of Fame class will be selected by a committee chaired by Princeton head coach Chris Sailer, who also led the working group that conceptualized the Hall of Fame and formulated the nomination criteria and the selection process. “Serving on the IWLCA Hall of Fame Selection Committee, especially during the inaugural year, is an incredible honor that comes with a great deal of responsibility,” said Sailer. “We look forward to the challenging task of reviewing the credentials of the nominees to select the very best candidates for the first class of inductees.”

Groveston praised the efforts of the Hall of Fame working group for establishing the parameters for the nomination and selection process and planning the logistics for the inaugural Induction Ceremony. According to Groveston, “The working group was diligent in researching existing hall of fame models from other sports and associations, and they were deliberate in considering how creating this Hall of Fame would advance the mission and vision of our organization. The Board of Directors is very grateful for the time and care each member dedicated to this important endeavor.” In addition to Sailer, the working group included Kevin Cooke, head coach at Mercyhurst, and Karen Henning, head coach at Colby.

The nomination period for Hall of Fame candidates opened earlier today and will remain open through June 15, 2017. For more information on the nomination criteria and selection process, please visit the Hall of Fame page on the IWLCA website.
