2017 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll – May 8, 2017
The University of Maryland (19-0) finished the regular season with a Big Ten Championship, the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, and all 20 first place votes in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll. Big East champion Florida (17-2) finishes in the second position, followed by North Carolina (16-2), the ACC champion, and Stony Brook (18-1), who won the America East championship. Princeton (14-3) slides into the fifth spot after taking down Penn and Cornell in the Ivy League tournament, and Penn State (15-3) drops to the sixth position after falling to Northwestern in the Big Ten semi-finals. Southern California (16-3), the MPSF champion, sits at #7, followed by Penn (13-3) at #8, Syracuse (15-6) at #9 and Colorado (16-3) in the tenth spot.
The back half of the poll includes Northwestern (10-9) at eleven, and Cornell (12-5) in the twelfth spot. A trio of ACC schools holds down the next three spots: Virginia (11-8) is #13, Boston College (13-6) sits at 14, and Notre Dame (11-7) claims the fifteenth position. CAA champion James Madison (13-6) is ranked #16, Denver (14-4) is seventeenth, followed by Louisville (11-7), Towson (12-6), and Elon (13-6) to wrap up the final spots. Both Albany (12-5) and Massachusetts (16-3) received votes in the final regular season poll.
