Penn's Kendall and Lauren D'Amore Tie for Goldring Award at Penn Athletics Senior Student-Athlete Award Ceremony

Women’s Lacrosse Seniors; Twin Sisters Tie for Highest GPA Among Female Senior Letterwinners

 

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) handed out its major intercollegiate senior student-athlete awards Monday night, April 24, in a ceremony held at The Palestra. Five awards were handed out, including the Norman J. Goldring and George H. Frazier Awards on Monday night. The Goldring Award is given to one graduating male and female student-athlete with the highest GPA who earned a varsity letter in his/her senior year. The Frazier Award, meanwhile, is given to a graduating student-athlete (male or female) with the highest GPA who competed on one of the following teams: basketball, crew, track, soccer, baseball or football.

Men’s swimmer Jordan Hurwitz (Portland, Ore./Sunset) was the male recipient of the Goldring Award, while twin sisters Kendall D’Amore and Lauren D’Amore (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) from women’s lacrosse were the female recipients. For the first time in the history of the Frazier Award, two athletes shared the honors: Kasey Chambers (Belmar, N.J./St. Rose) from women’s basketball and Nick McGreivy (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) from men’s track & field.

GOLDRING AWARD (female) – Kendall D'Amore, women’s lacrosse

  • Has appeared in 11 career games for the Quakers
  • A member of two Ivy League championship teams, with a chance to win a third this weekend
  • Has scored two career goals, including one against Lehigh earlier this season
  • Enrolled in Wharton with a concentration in Operations Information and Decisions

GOLDRING AWARD (female) – Lauren D'Amore, women’s lacrosse

  • Has appeared in 36 career games including 11 during the 2017 season for the eighth-ranked Quakers.
  • A member of two Ivy League championship teams, with a chance to win a third this weekend
  • Has nine career points (5 goals/4 assists), including a pair of assists in a recent win over #6 Princeton
  • Enrolled in Wharton with a concentration in Operations Information and Decisions
