IWLCA Fast Break Players of the Week – April 12, 2017
The IWLCA is pleased to announce the Fast Break Players of the Week for April 12, 2017:
Division I Offensive Player of the Week – Kaitlyn Montalbano, Towson
Montalbano keyed the Tigers to victories against William & Mary and #19 Elon last week, totaling 11 goals and two assists in the offensive end. The junior midfielder added five ground balls, a draw control and two caused turnovers to her stat line for the weekend.
Division I Defensive Player of the Week – Ellie DeGarmo, Princeton
DeGarmo made nine saves and gave up only five goals to post a 64.3 save percentage for the #7 Princeton squad in a 2-5 victory over Harvard last weekend.
Division II Offensive Player of the Week – Emma Rufolo, East Stroudsburg
Rufolo led her ESU team to a 3-0 week, collecting wins over Lock Haven, Seton Hill, and Edinboro. Her stat line for the week included nine goals, 10 draw controls, six caused turnovers, and seven ground balls.
Division II Defensive Player of the Week – Lauren Young, NYIT
Young saved 60% of the shots she faced last week as the Bears recorded wins over Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas. The senior posted 14 saves and a 7.00 goals against average in the two games.
Division III Offensive Player of the Week – Kathleen Jaeger, TCNJ
Jaeger totaled eight goals, four draw controls and four ground balls in two games last week as the Lions beat Stevens and Montclair State and claimed the #1 ranking in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll.
Division III Defensive Player of the Week – Ali Gorab, Gettysburg
Gorab was the leader of a defense that took down then #1 Franklin & Marshall by a score of 12-6, and followed that effort by shutting out Swarthmore. The junior defender grabbed six ground balls, one draw control and caused a turnover last week for the #3 Bullets.
Two players from each NCAA Division are chosen as the Fast Break Players of the Week and announced during the broadcast of “Fast Break: IWLCA College Lacrosse Weekly” on Lax Sports Network. The show will air at 7:30 pm EDT on Wednesdays throughout the season.
