2017 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll – April 3, 2017
The University of Maryland (11-0) remained the top team in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll this week after receiving all 20 first place votes. North Carolina (11-1) and Florida (9-2) stayed put at numbers two and three, while Stony Brook (10-1) and Penn State (12-1) each gained a spot in the rankings to fill out the top five. Three Ivy League teams landed in the top ten: Princeton (8-1) at #7, Cornell (#8), and Penn (#10), and they are joined by two MPSF squads (Colorado at #6 and Southern California at #9). In the back half of the poll, Boston College (#17) and James Madison (#18) returned to the rankings this week, while Duke drops out, but continues receiving votes.
Top twenty game action this week gets underway on Wednesday when the #15 Virginia Cavaliers welcome Maryland (#1) to campus. The weekend’s action starts on Friday with #19 Elon at James Madison (#18), followed by North Carolina (#2) at Louisville (RV), and Virginia (#15) at #5 Penn State on Saturday. Syracuse (#11) hosts #20 Virginia Tech and Towson (#14) welcomes Elon (#19) on Sunday to close out the week.
