IWLCA Fast Break Players of the Week – March 29, 2017
The IWLCA is pleased to announce the Fast Break Players of the Week for March 29, 2017:
Division I Offensive Player of the Week – Mollie Stevens, Florida
Stevens was the offensive force driving the Gators to a 15-8 win over #13 Denver with a five goal performance. She added six draw controls and four ground balls to help Florida improve to 8-1 on the season.
Division I Defensive Player of the Week – Samantha Giacolone, Notre Dame
Giacolone posted 13 saves to lead Notre Dame to a 16-7 upset victory over fourth ranked Syracuse last week. The sophomore added one caused turnover and four ground balls to the Irish effort, while only allowing seven goals.
Division II Offensive Player of the Week – Jaqueline Pardee, Le Moyne
Pardee paced the Dolphins with 12 points in two NE-10 wins last week. She recorded five goals and three ground balls against American International, before chipping in five goals, two assists, and four ground balls against Southern New Hampshire.
Division II Defensive Player of the Week – Jada Bonner, Regis
Bonner was all over the stat sheet in a 2-0 week for the Rangers. She totaled two goals, one assist, 11 caused turnovers, nine ground balls, and eight draw controls in the victories.
Division III Offensive Player of the Week – Katherine Vincent, Washington College
Vincent tallied five goals, five assists, five draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers in a win over St. Mary’s (Md.). She followed that up with three goals, one assist, two draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover in an overtime loss to Dickinson.
Division III Defensive Player of the Week – Stephanie Schnelzer, Stevens
Schnelzer posted a .516 save percentage in two games last week as the Ducks took a loss against #7 Trinity then bounced back with a win over St. John Fisher (#14). Over the two games, she totaled 16 saves and seven ground balls.
Two players from each NCAA Division are chosen as the Fast Break Players of the Week and announced during the broadcast of “Fast Break: IWLCA College Lacrosse Weekly” on Lax Sports Network. The show will air at 7:30 pm EDT on Wednesdays throughout the season.
