2017 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll – March 20, 2017
The University of Maryland Terrapins (7-0) extended their unbeaten streak and collected all 20 first-place votes in this week’s IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll. North Carolina (8-1) and Florida (7-1) stay put in the second and third slot, while Syracuse (8-2), Princeton (5-0), and Colorado (9-0) all move up a spot after USC (#9) falls out of the top five. Cornell (5-1) and Stony Brook (6-1) are tied for the number seven position, and Penn State checks in at #10. The University of Virginia jumps back into the poll at #19, knocking Louisville out of the rankings.
The top-twenty action gets started on Tuesday this week, when the fifth ranked Princeton Tigers play host to #10 Penn State. On Wednesday, #11 Penn pays a visit to top-ranked Maryland, and #19 Virginia welcomes James Madison (RV). The #9 USC Trojans head to Long Island to tangle with Stony Brook (#T-7) on Friday, March 24. The weekend’s big games include #3 Florida hosting #13 Denver, Duke (#17) visiting #19 Virginia, James Madison (RV) versus #1 Maryland, and Johns Hopkins (RV) against Penn State (#10).
