IWLCA/LSN Fast Break Players of the Week – March 15, 2017


The IWLCA and Lax Sports Network are pleased to announce the Fast Break Players of the Week for March 15, 2017. Two players from each NCAA Division are chosen weekly and announced during the broadcast of “Fast Break: IWLCA College Lacrosse Weekly” on Lax Sports Network. The show will air at 7:30 pm EDT on Wednesdays throughout the season.

Division I Offensive Player of the WeekMiranda Stinson, Colorado

Stinson poured in nine points to lead the #7 Buffs to a 16-11 upset of #6 Penn State, setting a new school record for points in a game. She tallied five goals on 10 shots, tying the program’s record for goals in a game, and the sophomore midfielder also added a ground ball in the contest.

Division I Defensive Player of the WeekMegan Taylor, Maryland

Taylor led the #1 Terps to a 2-0 week, anchoring the defense in their wins over Boston College and #4 Syracuse. The sophomore goalkeeper tallied a career high 18 saves against the Orange, while adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Taylor made seven saves against BC and added two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Division II Offensive Player of the WeekDani Bursinger, Florida Southern

Bursinger, a sophomore midfielder, was all over the field last week, notching four goals and three assists, and collecting 22 draw controls, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. The #5 Mocs went 4-0 on the week, picking up wins over Fort Lewis, West Virginia Wesleyan, Young Harris, and Queens.

Division II Defensive Player of the WeekRachael Welzin, CSU-Pueblo

Welzin lead CSU-Pueblo on defense last week by posting seven ground balls, five caused turnovers, two draw controls, and one assist in games against Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa.

Division III Offensive Player of the WeekPaige Moriarty, Franklin & Marshall

Moriarty led the Diplomats to a 12-2 upset of second ranked Cortland and became the fastest player in school history to record 200 points. The junior attacker pumped in six goals and three assists and added a ground ball and caused turnover in the victory.

Division III Defensive Player of the WeekStephanie Schnelzer, Stevens

Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Schnelzer recorded a career high 14 saves in the Ducks win over Rowan, posting a .636 save percentage while facing 33 shots.
