The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), working in conjunction with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. (CSE), announced today the addition of the IWLCA Debut to the association’s STX Capital Cup in July and Brine Presidents Cup Presented by New Balance in November. A limited number of teams comprised exclusively of student-athletes from the graduating class of 2021 will compete starting in 2017.

“In response to the amazing growth of our sport and the many requests of players, coaches and parents, the IWLCA Board of Directors decided to create a new component to our tournaments. We are excited to invite 2021 teams to play in our Debut division, intended to provide an opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and experience of some of our IWLCA events," said Alicia Groveston, IWLCA President and head coach at Grand Valley State University. “While we stand firmly committed to our NCAA legislative proposal to push back the start of recruiting to September of the junior year, the Board supports creating top notch opportunities to play the great game of lacrosse." 

The 2017 IWLCA calendar includes: Brine New England Cup presented by New Balance (June 10-11, Amherst, MA); Junk Brands Champions Cup (June 16-18, Midlothian, VA); Junk Brands Midwest Cup (July 8-9, Chicago, IL); STX Capital Cup (July 13-16, Midlothian, VA); and the Brine Presidents Cup presented by New Balance (November 17-19, Orlando, FL).

The IWLCA recently wrapped up its 2016 schedule at the Brine Presidents Cup presented by New Balance in Orlando, FL. Buoyed by the picture perfect Florida weather, the tournament was well received by participants, coaches, and officials. Held in conjunction with the IWLCA’s annual convention, there was a record 631 coaches in attendance representing 361 different colleges at the tournament.
