Sparks, MD -- The IWLCA Building at US Lacrosse National Headquarters was officially dedicated on Sunday, September 11 during an on-field ceremony as part of the US Lacrosse Grand Opening Weekend Celebration. IWLCA President Alicia Groveston participated in the ceremony held before the US Women's National Team scrimmage, which also included the dedication of William G. Tierney Field and a blessing of the National Headquarters by Oren Lyons, faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation.

In her remarks during the ceremony, Groveston noted, "for the IWLCA, fundamentally, this gift is about fulfilling our organization’s mission – which is cultivating the growth of lacrosse and more specifically the women’s college game. The historical significance of this contribution is important to note: just over 40 years after Title IX was passed, a women’s coaches association was able to name the building at USL National Headquarters."

The three-story administrative center will house offices for US Lacrosse staff, the National Hall of Fame and Museum, highlighted by the Richie Moran Hall of Fame Gallery, the Crum Family Education and Training Center, additional meeting space, and locker rooms and storage on the ground level.

National Team assistant coach Jess Wilk Strosberg expressed the team's gratitude and excitement regarding the new facility: “We, as a team and staff, wanted to say thank you to all who made this facility and this weekend possible. There truly are no words to describe the feeling for all of us as we walked into our new locker room in the IWLCA building and had the privilege of being the first team to officially open play on the new field. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and continue to do to move the game and the Women’s National Team forward. We are beyond appreciative and will continue to do our part as well!”

The Harry Rosenburg Jr. Promenade connects the IWLCA Building to Tierney Field, and features 21 pillars honoring college lacrosse programs lining the walkway. The Creator's Game statue resides at the south end of the Promenade, along with the 9/11 Memorial.

The main entryway to the building is marked by a plaque commemorating the gift made by the IWLCA to name the building. The plaque reads in part: "In January of 2015, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association provided the leadership gift to make the US Lacrosse National Headquarters possible. US Lacrosse and the IWLCA share a passion for the game of lacrosse. This gift renewed a strategic partnership between the two organizations, securing the future development and playing of the sport. The IWLCA's transformational investment in US Lacrosse exemplifies the women's college coaches commitment to cultivating the growth of the women's game and promoting excellence in lacrosse."

Other members of the IWLCA staff and Board of Directors were in attendance at the weekend's events, including Vice-President Meghan McDonogh, Secretary Rachel Dell, Division I representative Melissa Lehman, Division III representative Alice Lee, Executive Director Gothard Lane, Legal Counsel Samantha Ekstrand, and Director of Communications Danie Caro.
