The 2015 IWLCA deBeer President's Cup concluded on Sunday afternoon just as another wave of rain swept through Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This year's event drew a record number of college coaches (743), maximizing the recruiting exposure for the 4,600+ prospects that competed at the three-day event.

Emily Mason, who coaches the 2018 NewLax club team, explained why the tournament is so popular: "We love coming to President's Cup. It's really well run. The girls have a bunch of fun, there's always college coaches on the sideline, and you can't beat the weather in sunny Florida."

IWLCA members coaches evaluated over 4,600 prospects.

In addition to providing a top notch recruiting experience for college coaches and prospective student-athletes, the tournament also provides a high level training experience for officials, particularly for those that want to move to the next level. Almost 40 umpires received some type of formal training over the weekend, including 29 that earned or renewed a District rating, from experienced officials from all over the country.

National Umpire Laurette Payette provides officials' training feedback.

One of the IWLCA's three "national" tournaments, the President's Cup is the largest in terms of the number of coaches in attendance. "It is THE recruiting event of the fall for so many of our member institutions," said Alicia Groveston, IWLCA President and head coach at Grand Valley State University. "The location, the facilities, the weather, and the ability to combine it with attendance at our Annual Meetings is a big draw for coaches. Corrigan Sports Enterprises does a great job making the experience positive for everyone involved. It is my favorite event of the year."
