CWLOA Leadership Team Named 2025 IWLCA Presidents Cup Award Recipient

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced that the Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Officials Association (CWLOA) Leadership Team has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 IWLCA Presidents Cup Award.

Under Joan Sitterly’s guidance, the CWLOA has partnered with the NCAA to provide ongoing education for both coaches and officials, fostering stronger collaboration and understanding across the sport. This past year, the group introduced innovative video education tools, hosted a preseason officiating webinar for IWLCA coaches, and fielded rule interpretation questions throughout the spring. Their work also included leading a Rule Book Retreat alongside members of the NCAA Rules Committee to create thoughtful recommendations aimed at improving consistency and clarity in game administration.

“Joan and the CWLOA leadership have been instrumental in bridging the gap between coaches and officials,” said IWLCA Executive Director Liz Robertshaw, who nominated Sitterly and the team for the honor. “Their commitment to communication, collaboration, and education has elevated our sport—making it easier to coach, officiate, and play through a shared understanding of the rules.”

“On behalf of the CWLOA leadership team, I am incredibly honored and appreciative of this recognition.” said Sitterly. “While I may be the face of the CWLOA and the captain helping to keep the ship moving forward, there are countless officials and leaders behind the scenes who selflessly give their time and expertise to improve officiating. I’m deeply appreciative of the IWLCA and its coaches for recognizing the CWLOA as an integral part of collegiate women’s lacrosse. I also value the strong relationship between our two organizations as we work toward our shared goal—providing the best possible experience for our student-athletes.”

Sitterly will be presented this award at the 2025 IWLCA Convention during the Awards Luncheon, Wednesday, November 19 at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida.
