IWLCA Announces 2025 Trina Mangano Recipients

The IWLCA is proud to announce the six recipients of the 2025 Trina Mangano Scholarship, awarded by the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee. Selected for their participation in a College Player Officials Academy (CPOA) event and their demonstrated dedication to pursuing officiating opportunities in the sport, this year’s scholarship honorees are Victoria Cini, Chloe Denhart, Alexandra Gottlieb, Brooke Gottlieb, Yasmin Grant, and Janie Spicer.

"Our committee is excited to honor this group for their commitment to the sport through the vessel of officiating.” stated Stephanie Allen, Binghamton University Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach and Chair of the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee. “Trina Mangano was instrumental in supporting the growth of the game, and this year's scholarship recipients exemplify that same level of dedication—eager to impact the next generation. We look forward to seeing these newly certified officials out on the field very soon, staying involved and connected to the game they all love."

Goalkeeper Victoria Cini is a native of Syosset, N.Y. and a recent graduate from the University of Connecticut. The 2025 Big East Second Team honoree stated, “It is an honor to receive this distinguished scholarship and be given the opportunity to continue participating in the sport I grew up playing and deeply love.”

Chloe Denhart, a midfielder at Pomona-Pitzer College, reflects on her experience: “Lacrosse has given me incredible friends, mentors, and memories, and I look forward to creating meaningful experiences that inspire young players to fall in love with the game.” A standout both on and off the field, Denhart recently concluded her sophomore season by earning SCIAC All-Academic Team honors while helping lead the Sagehens to an impressive 18–3 overall record and an 11–1 mark in conference play.

Alexandra Gottlieb and Brooke Gottlieb continue to deepen their connection to the game of lacrosse, each finding new ways to stay involved beyond playing. Alexandra, entering her sophomore year at UNC Charlotte after appearing in five games during her freshman season, stepped into officiating for the first time this summer—an experience she described as an exciting opportunity to see the game she loves from a whole new perspective. Brooke, a former attacker at Coastal Carolina University and a 2023 graduate, reflected on her continued passion for the sport, noting that although her playing days are behind her, her love for lacrosse will never retire. Receiving the Trina Mangano Scholarship, she shared, has given her the chance to return to the turf and share that passion with the next generation of female athletes.

Yasmin Grant will be a senior this season at Smith College and was recently recognized as a member of the 2025 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in Division III. Grant reflected on how she could remain close to the game upon closing out her collegiate playing years, “Lacrosse has long been a big part of my life, and I knew I wanted to stay connected to the game after graduation. Officiating is the perfect way to do that, and I’m excited to continue contributing to -- and watching -- the game grow and evolve."

Janie Spicer, a sophomore at Winthrop University from Aberdeen, N.C., reflected on the honor of being selected for a scholarship that carries on Trina Mangano’s legacy. She expressed a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to continuing Mangano’s mission of growing the game through quality officiating.

Trina Mangano was a nationally and internationally rated official whose impact on the game extended far beyond the field. She played a key role in shaping the next generation of officials through her service on the US Lacrosse Training Committee, her work as a CWLOA trainer, and her position as the officials’ assignor for IWLCA recruiting events. Trina’s passion for education and mentorship helped elevate the standard of officiating in women’s lacrosse. These scholarships honor her enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to growing the game through the development and support of officials.
