IWLCA Players of the Week – February 25, 2025

 

The IWLCA has chosen eight student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week ending February 23, 2025. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, III, and the NAIA each week during the regular season.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week

Jordyn Case – Stanford University

Case earns this week’s honor following her standout performance in the No. 14 Cardinal's 13-7 victory over No. 7 Virginia. Case played a pivotal role in the win, recording five points with a 4-1-5 line. Additionally, she contributed significantly in the draw control category, securing seven of Stanford's 14 total draw controls. She also excelled in free position opportunities, converting two out of three attempts.

Defensive Player of the Week

Emily Lamparter – Clemson University

In Clemson's 12-11 victory over No. 11 Notre Dame, Lamparter was instrumental in the win, saving 80% of free position shots and recording double-digit saves, resulting in an impressive 54.2% save rate. Her efforts played a key role in securing Clemson's victory, which marked the highest-ranked win in the program's history.


Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Sarah Engle – University of Tampa

Engle earns Offensive Player of the Week after a standout performance in Tampa’s dominant win over No. 3 Adelphi. Engle scored a game-high six goals and recorded eight shots, with seven of them hitting the target. Her exceptional offensive display also earned her SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Defensive Player of the Week

Gianna Guzek – Maryville University

Guzek delivered a career-high 15 saves in a thrilling second-half comeback against No. 6 Regis, defeating the Rangers 16-9. Guzek faced 24 shots on goal and recorded five free-position shot saves, including an impressive three-straight in the third quarter. The sophomore goalie’s 12 saves in the second half were crucial in helping the Saints outscore Regis and secure the victory. Guzek's outstanding performance also earned her the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week accolade.


Division III

Offensive Player of the Week

Grace Osborn – Capital University

Osborn is named this week’s Offensive Player of the Week in Division III after making history with a record-breaking performance in a 21-5 victory over Berry. Osborn set a new NCAA Division III career points record, reaching her 516th career point, while also becoming the first collegiate women's lacrosse player across any division to score 400 goals. She now has 403 goals, 113 assists, and 516 points, solidifying her place in the record books.

Defensive Player of the Week

Iman Haddad – Washington and Lee University

In the General’s win over Salisbury, Junior Iman Haddad was a force in goal, recording a career-high 17 saves in just her second career start. Haddad was a consistent presence in the crease, recording four saves in each of the first three quarters before making five key stops in the final period. She also played a crucial role in the Generals' 22-for-23 clearing success rate, while her defensive unit forced five of Salisbury's eight turnovers.


NAIA

Offensive Player of the Week

Ellen Benintendi – Savannah College of Art and Design

Benintendi led the No. 1 Bees to a 20-17 win over No. 2 Lawrence Tech on Saturday. She recorded six goals and two assists in the match. She also added nine draw controls to her stat line. The freshman currently leads the team in goals (23) and points (27).

Defensive Player of the Week

Mia Bosah – University of the Cumberlands

Bosah's stellar play helped the Patriots secure two wins for the week. Following a dominant win over Warner University on Friday, the senior goalie recorded a season-high 13 saves against No. 10 Ave Maria University Sunday afternoon, including five in the first quarter. Bosah posted a 70.0% save percentage for the week.
