Levy, Reese Selected for 2025 IWLCA Hall of Fame Class

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced the 2025 IWLCA Hall of Fame inductees, recognizing two legendary figures in the sport: Jenny Levy, head coach at the University of North Carolina, and Cathy Reese, head coach at the University of Maryland.

The official induction ceremony will be held in November 2025 at the IWLCA Convention at Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Levy and Reese have been pillars of women’s lacrosse for decades, consistently leading their teams to remarkable success.

"I think the Hall of Fame Committee continues to do a fantastic job evaluating nominees for the Hall of Fame each year, and they selected a great 2025 induction class. Both Cathy and Jenny have earned every accolade and they belong in the IWLCA Hall of Fame with the other great coaches that have already been inducted," said Kelly Gallagher, IWLCA President, and head coach at the University of Tampa. "I think it's really neat that Cathy and Jenny will be joining the coaches that coached them collegiately when they are inducted in November. Cindy Timchal, a member of the 2017 class, coached Reese at Maryland, and Jane Miller, inducted in 2019, coached Levy at Virginia.”

Karen Henning, head coach at Colby College, chairs the IWLCA Hall of Fame committee, which oversees the selection of these exceptional coaches.

The IWLCA Hall of Fame was established in May 2017 to recognize and honor outstanding career achievements by collegiate women's lacrosse coaches. The class of 2025 will be the eight class of honorees to be inducted.

Jenny Levy has recorded 421 wins in 29 seasons at the University of North Carolina, making her the third-winningest coach in NCAA Division I history. She has led the Tar Heels to NCAA National Championships in 2013, 2016, and 2022, and has guided her UNC squad to the NCAA National Semifinals 13 times throughout her career. Levy boasts a .764 career winning percentage and has been named IWLCA Coach of the Year three times, as well as ACC Coach of the Year seven times. In addition to her duties at UNC, Levy served as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team, leading them to a gold medal with an undefeated record at the 2022 World Championship. She was inducted into the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2021 and the Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame in 2010.

I am honored to be inducted into the IWLCA Hall of Fame for its Class of 2025 and am humbled to be recognized alongside the best the sport has to offer. Lacrosse means so much to me and my family, and I can't imagine my life without it. The growth of the game throughout my career has been phenomenal to witness and I am eager to continue seeing where it can go both domestically and abroad. I am so fortunate to work with incredible athletes, coaches and support staff who continue to fuel my passion for the game. Being part of a team is something I love and never take for granted, and I will forever be grateful to lacrosse for providing that for me my entire life." – Jenny Levy

Over the course of her distinguished career as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach at the University of Maryland, Cathy Reese has amassed an impressive 12 NCAA Championships. She ranks sixth all-time among women’s lacrosse head coaches with 332 career wins, achieving milestones as the fastest coach to reach 200, 250, and 300 wins. Reese has guided Maryland to five national championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), 11 Final Fours, and 20 regular-season and tournament championships across the ACC and Big Ten. She is recognized as a four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2014, 2015, 2019) and a 12-time conference coach of the year. With a career winning percentage of .835, Reese has developed eight Tewaaraton Trophy winners, 22 National Players of the Year, and 64 All-Americans. Her legacy has earned her numerous inductions, including into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame, DC Sports Hall of Fame, Howard County (Md.) Women’s Athletic Hall of Fame, and several USA Lacrosse Halls of Fame, culminating in her induction into the USA Lacrosse National Hall of Fame in 2019.

"It is an incredible honor to be inducted as a member of the Class of 2025 into the IWLCA Hall of Fame," said Cathy Reese. "I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to dedicate so many years to a game that means so much to me. Throughout my career, I've cherished every chance to positively impact the lives of young women in this sport. My family and I are deeply grateful for this recognition, and I truly appreciate the unwavering support from my peers along the way." – Cathy Reese
