Boston College Claims Unanimous No. 1 Spot in the 2025 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll
The 2025 season of women’s lacrosse is officially underway, with the first IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll of the year ranking Boston College at the top. Voted as the unanimous No. 1, the Eagles are off to a strong start with two wins already under their belt. As the defending champions, Boston College enters the season with a clear goal: to defend their title.
Northwestern, who fell just one point short of claiming the championship last season after a narrow loss to the Eagles, is ranked No. 2 to start the 2025 campaign. The Wildcats have also secured two wins to open the season.
The top five teams in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll are rounded out by North Carolina (No. 3), Michigan (No. 4), and Florida (No. 5), all of whom are looking to make significant strides this season.
In total, 25 teams are represented in the poll, with voters—representing college coaches from across the nation—reflecting on the latest developments in women's lacrosse. The rankings are based on weekly performances, with the poll set to be released each Monday throughout the season.
