2024 College Player Officials Academy Training Dates Announced

Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and USA Lacrosse have announced six training dates in June for the 2024 College Player Officials Academy (CPOA). This joint venture between the two organizations aims to recruit current and recently graduated lacrosse players into becoming the next generation of women’s game officials.

Coinciding with select summer tournaments, the CPOA events provide candidates virtual classroom instruction, hands-on training, and live game action to springboard their journey in officiating. Upon completion of the weekend, candidates will take the next steps to become USA Lacrosse certified and be eligible to work youth and high school competitions immediately.

“The IWLCA is proud to work with USA Lacrosse on this project to grow and train the pool of new officials in our sport,” said Liz Robertshaw, IWLCA Executive Director. “There’s no secret we have a shortage of officials in our game due in part to the rapid growth of the sport across the country. We have great candidates who know the game in our college players and the CPOA opens the door for those players to become officials in a streamlined way. Getting more quality officials in the game and helping our college student-athletes make some great money during the summer break, it’s a win-win!”

The dates and locations for the 2024 College Player Officials Academy are:

June 1 in Bel Air, Md. (Summer Classic Tournament)
June 1 in New Egypt, N.J. (Lax By the Sea Tournament)
June 8 in Raleigh, N.C. (IWLCA Southwest Cup)
June 15 in Boyds, Md. (IWLCA Champions Cup)
June 15 in New Egypt, N.J. (Lax For the Cure)
