GOALS CEO Named Convention Keynote Speaker

IWLCA Executive Director Liz Robertshaw has announced Caroline Fitzgerald, CEO and Founder of GOALS, as this year’s keynote speaker for the 2023 IWLCA Convention.

Fitzgerald will deliver her presentation, “Barbie, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and the Inevitable Prosperity of Women’s Sports,” to kick off the official start of the IWLCA Convention on Wednesday, November 15 at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront Hotel.

“I could not be more thrilled to announce Caroline Fitzgerald as this year’s IWLCA Convention Keynote Speaker,” stated Robertshaw. “Women’s sports is having its breakout moment right now with interest and investment growing exponentially, and Caroline’s company, GOALS, has had a pulse on it every step of the way. This opportunity for our coaches to learn more about the current landscape and hear from Caroline is going to be invaluable.”

Fitzgerald started the GOALS organization to empower women through sports and find ways to support the growth and development of what is projected to be a $1B dollar industry if properly funded. “If women’s sports are seeing glass-shattering results – despite a gross lack of resources – what could happen if they were properly funded,” expressed Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald plans to share with the IWLCA members how prioritizing women will produce remarkable results in more ways than one. “The examples of Barbie, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift have undeniably proven that when women consumers are prioritized, profits soar. And when it comes to an entertainment product, women’s sports are perfectly positioned to serve a historically underserved female audience. I'm really looking forward to sharing more insights on the growth of women's sports with the members of the IWLCA. They are the leaders at the helm of what I believe to be one of the most exciting trends and investment opportunities in the sports industry right now – aka women's lacrosse.”

Before jumping into GOALS full-time, the Pittsburgh native previously worked over a decade as a marketing and sales professional across a variety of industries. She recently served as the Senior Vice President of Partnerships at P3R and the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, activating partnerships with brands such as FedEx, Brooks Running, PNC Bank, Nuun Hydration and more. Fitzgerald is a graduate from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University with dual degrees in Marketing and Women/Gender Studies and holds an M.S. in Global Sport from the Tisch Institute for Global Sport at NYU.
