IWLCA Recognizes 2023 Academic Merit Squads

The IWLCA has announced four teams as 2023 IWLCA Academic Merit Squads, which is a designation awarded to the top teams in each division with the highest team GPA for the preceding academic year. Each of the winning teams were previously named as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad.

Harvard University posted the highest GPA among the 106 schools in Division I that recorded a team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year. The Crimson finished with a 3.781 GPA overall.

In Division II, Saint Leo University earned the Merit Squad distinction by beating out 56 other Division II schools that also earned Honor Squad recognition. The squad earned a 3.731 GPA to close out the academic year.

The top GPA in Division III was claimed by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for a second year in a row. The Sagehens led the division by toping 164 institutions with a 3.835 overall GPA.

Missouri Baptist University, once again, tops the NAIA Merit Squad honorees, registering the highest team GPA of the 10 teams that qualified as Academic Honor Squads this year. The Spartans recorded a 3.582 overall GPA in their second straight year as leaders in the NAIA.
