Over 300 Coaches in Attendance for Champions Cup Weekend

Presented by Coast to Coast Lax, this year's IWLCA Champions Cup continues to be one of the more prominent national tournaments powered by Elite Tournaments. Held over two sites, the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, and the Olney Boys and Girls Club Complex in Olney, the tournament saw over 300-plus coaches from over 250 programs.

With 4,655 prospects in attendance, there was a staggering 20,000+ player profile views on IWLCARecruits powered by SportsRecruits.

"The IWLCA Champions Cup, the biggest tournament of the IWLCA Summer Tournament Series welcomed over 270 teams and 300 college coaches from across the nation to Maryland for a sunny and competitive weekend," said Caitlin Schmelz, Director of Lacrosse at Elite Tournaments. "With a new and improved vendor village spot, as well as the use of a stadium field, we are excited to see how Champions Cup can continue to grow and create recruiting opportunities for prospective colleges by attracting new teams and college coaches!"

In 554 games, 40 states and Canada were represented, while an increased number of officials (120) appeared in this year's tournament from last season's 82. In addition, Player of the Match recognition was given to 554 athletes across the 273 teams that competed.

"Champions Cup is a great example of the IWLCA's success hosting recruiting events. It has organically grown over the years, taken place in multiple and varying venues, and has consistently drawn quality clubs and prospects to the event. Our coaches get to experience a top-notch event that is continually adapting to the changing recruiting landscape, while innovating new concepts that have benefitted college coaches, prospective student-athletes, club administrators, and spectators,", said Danie Caro, the IWLCA's Director of Internal Operations and Programming, who previously served as the IWLCA President when the first Champions Cup event was held in 2007. "This year's event was one of the best I have ever attended. The weather was perfect, the conditions in the venue were fantastic, and the energy I saw from both the players on the field and the collegiate coaches who were there to evaluate was focused yet fun. The staff from Elite did a great job ensuring everything ran smoothly, and I heard from many college coaches and families of prospects that those efforts were very appreciated."
