University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Assistant Coach and Athletics Media Relations Coordinator (F/T)

The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse seeks a women's lacrosse Assistant Coach and Athletics Media Relations Coordinator. This full-time position is 50% Coach (C Basis Appointment) and 50% Athletics Media Relations Coordinator (A-Basis).

Women’s Lacrosse Coach
The ideal candidate blends athletic excellence, leadership capacity, and the ability to mentor the student-athletes with the development of the student-athlete as the highest priority. This individual will enthusiastically perform the functions of the women’s lacrosse assistant coach, responsible for assisting in the management and administration of the intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse program within the guidelines, rules, and regulations of UWL and the NCAA. 

Athletics Media Relations Coordinator
The Athletics Media Relations Coordinator will work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations overseeing all communications and media relations for the UW-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department with the goal of increasing the awareness of Eagles Athletics.

Responsibilities include but not limited to assisting in-game day statistics; maintaining and update records; managing press table and statistical coverage of home and special events; coordinating daily media relations efforts; result reporting; news releases; feature writing; organizing webcasting of live events; photography, video production and supervising student assistants.
In addition, this position will assist in the layout and production of recruiting/media brochures and game-day programs; assist with assigned projects and marketing, file required reports and information with the NCAA and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference; provide daily content and coverage of UWL Athletics on the department’s web site and social media platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least four years of playing or coaching in the sport of Women’s Lacrosse at the collegiate level required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong writing skills, including knowledge of AP Style. 
  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success, NCAA/University rules.
  • In the absence of the Head Coach, is responsible for moderate levels of decision-making regarding supervision of student-athletes, coaching of athletes.
  • Valid drivers license or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
  • Proven experience with Stat Crew and Genius Sports statistical programs. 
  • Experience in athletics, public relations and/or related field. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content management platforms, desktop publishing software and graphic design software. 
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Bachelor’s degree in communications is preferred); Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least four years of playing or coaching in the sport of Women’s Lacrosse at the collegiate level required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success, NCAA/University rules.
  • In the absence of the Head Coach, is responsible for moderate levels of decision-making regarding supervision of student-athletes, coaching of athletes.
  • Valid drivers license or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
