Thiel College, Head Coach

Thiel College is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach. This position will be responsible for directing all aspects of Thiel’s NCAA Division III program and will be expected to abide by and uphold the regulations of the NCAA Division III and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

Specific duties will include recruitment, retention, coaching, scheduling, team travel, budget management, supervision of an assistant coach, and monitoring student-athletes academic progress.  The candidate must have a solid commitment to academics and athletic success, with a demonstrated ability to identify, recruit, and retain student-athletes, a proven record of outstanding leadership, and strong organizational skills. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build a team of highly motivated student-athletes that show a strong commitment to the Division III philosophy, Thiel College, and the women’s lacrosse program.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting plan that will identify, recruit and retain qualified student-athletes that meet College admission standards and qualifications to consistently meet or exceed recruitment goals.
  • Maintain target roster size set by the institution.
  • Teach/instruct student-athletes through fundamentals, motivation, and promoting positive values consistent with Divisions III and the mission of Thiel College.
  • Ensure a commitment to the academic success of women’s lacrosse student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
  • Manage all operational, fiscal, and administrative duties associated with the women’s lacrosse program, including balancing the annual women’s lacrosse-operating budget.
  • Develop playing schedule in conjunction with the Director of Athletics
  • Manage care of appropriate facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Athletics fundraising activities.
  • Exhibit the highest degree of sportsmanship and professionalism at all times.
  • Serve on campus committees as needed.
  • Know and adhere to all college policies.
  • Know and adhere to all sport-specific rules of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
  • Know and adhere to all Division III rules governed by the NCAA.
  • Serve as Game Day Administrator for events/competitions as directed by the Director of Athletics.
  • Serve as facilities monitor of all Thiel College athletic facilities as directed by the Director of Athletics.
  • Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach will report directly to the Director of Athletics.

Knowledge of:

  • Efficient office procedures and current technology.

  • Using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Ability to:

  • Bend, stretch, walk, lift medium to heavy objects, operate athletic equipment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and independence.
  • Work with confidential and sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

Office and field time required.

Safety/Training Requirements: 

Will be expected to attend professional development clinics/seminars.  Hold current CPR/AED certification.  Continuing education for topics relevant to the field.  Periodic training on topics of nondiscrimination, prevention of harassment, prevention of sexual misconduct, and other topics as required. General safety training and ergonomics training are relevant to an office environment.
