IWLCA Players of the Week – June 1, 2021

The IWLCA has chosen two NCAA student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week of May 24 – May 30, 2021. This week’s award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I. The Division II and Division III seasons ended on May 23 with their respective NCAA Championships.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week

Charlotte North – Boston College

North posted another record-setting day in the NCAA Championship game, scoring six goals to set a new NCAA single season goals record (102), and leading the Eagles to the program’s first NCAA title with a 16-10 win over Syracuse. The senior attacker’s stat line for the weekend, which included an 11-10 semifinal win over top-seeded North Carolina, included eight goals, one assist, four draw controls and one ground ball. North was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer after finishing her title run with 31 goals and two assists. Boston College finished the 2021 campaign with an 18-3 record and the top ranking in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll.

Defensive Player of the Week

Rachel Hall – Boston College

Hall backstopped the Boston College defense to the program’s first National Championship, earning wins over North Carolina (11-10) in the semifinals and Syracuse (16-10) in the NCAA Championship game. Against the Tar Heels last Friday, Hall made 11 saves, grabbed two ground balls and caused one turnover, then followed that up with a nine save performance against the Orange. The junior goalkeeper was named to the All-Tournament team after picking up all five of BC’s wins in NCAA play. Boston College finished the 2021 campaign with an 18-3 record and the top ranking in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll.
