IWLCA Players of the Week – April 20, 2021

The IWLCA has chosen six NCAA student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week of April 12 – April 18, 2021. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, and III each week during the regular season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Ali Biaocco – Stanford University

Baiocco led Stanford to wins over Arizona State, 22-21, and Southern California, 16-15 last week. Against ASU, the senior attacker registered seven points, including four goals and three assists. She followed up by matching her school single-game record with eight goals, including the game-winner, at USC on Sunday to clinch Stanford's first-ever Pac-12 regular season title and 15th conference championship overall. Moved up to #13 in the Division I Coaches Poll after the weekend’s performance.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Sondra Dickey – Lehigh University

Dickey, a graduate student, recorded two goals, one assist, seven draw controls, a career-high six ground balls and career-high six caused turnovers in an 18-5 win against Patriot League rival Lafayette. After Lafayette scored its fourth goal with 8:38 left in the first half, Dickey and the Mountain Hawks shut-out the Leopards for the next 32:04 and allowed just one goal over the game's final 38:38.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Hollie Schleicher – Boston College

Schleicher led the Eagles defensive unit in a weekend sweep of then #4 Notre Dame, taking down the Irish 19-11 and 18-12. The sophomore midfielder registered 10 draw controls and three caused turnovers in the two games. Boston College improved their record to 11-1 and moved up a spot in the Division I Coaches Poll to fourth.

Offensive Player of the Week

Erin McMullen – Le Moyne College

McMullen registered 10 points (nine goals and one assist), including the overtime game-winner against Adelphi, along with 17 draw controls and two ground balls in the Dolphins’ 2-0 week. The senior attacker scored five points and added 11 draw controls in an 18-6 win at American International. Against Adelphi, McMullen scored five goals and added six draw controls in an 8-7 overtime victory. Le Moyne is 9-0 and ranked third in the Division II Coaches Poll.

Defensive Player of the Week

Bridget Sutter – University of Tampa

Sutter came off the bench for Tampa and helped the Spartans to a 15-14 overtime victory against then #22 Saint Leo. Saint Leo scored their first 10 goals in the first 33:37 before Sutter subbed into the game. The Lions only added four more goals, while the senior goalkeeper recorded seven saves. Tampa improved to 6-1 and is ranked sixth in the Division II Coaches Poll.

Offensive Player of the Week

Courtney Pierre – Hamilton College

Pierre scored a career-high six goals in an 11-10 win over then #15 Trinity on Saturday, the most by a Hamilton player since 2011. The senior midfielder’s sixth goal gave the Continentals an 11-9 lead with 9:34 left in the second half. Pierre also chipped in with a draw control, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. The win helped Hamilton jump three spots to land at #21 in the Division III Coaches Poll.

Defensive Player of the Week

Allyn Lilien – Montclair State University

Lilien made eight of her 15 saves in second half and overtime, including a free position stop with 3:56 remaining as MSU earned a comeback win over Stockton, 14-13, in overtime. The senior goalkeeper sent game to OT with a save on a free position shot with 4 seconds left in the second half, then stopped two point-blank chances in OT. The Red Hawks also notched a 15-3 win over Kean University last week; Lilien made nine saves and added a three ground balls and one caused turnover.
