IWLCA Players of the Week – April 13, 2021

The IWLCA has chosen six NCAA student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week of April 5 – April 11, 2021. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, and III each week during the regular season.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week

Charlotte North – Boston College

North scored 10 goals to lead Boston College to a 21-11 win over Virginia Tech last Saturday. The senior attacker’s 10 goals set a new BC and ACC record for goals in a single game. North also added an assist, one ground ball, three caused turnovers, and 13 draw controls to the stat sheet for the #5 Eagles.

Defensive Player of the Week

Bridget Deehan – University of Notre Dame

Deehan tied her career-high with 14 saves (.560 SV%), including 11 first-half stops, in Notre Dame's battle with top-ranked North Carolina last weekend. A senior goalkeeper, Deehan also scooped up five ground balls and helped her defense hold UNC to its lowest goal total of the season. Despite the 10-11 setback, the Irish are ranked fourth in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll.

Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Anna Glynn – Davenport University

Glynn turned in a stellar performance for Davenport with seven goals (career high), three assists (tied career high), four draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover in a 15-13 loss to eighth ranked Grand Valley State. The freshman midfielder was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts and is currently ranked second on the team in scoring this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Eliza Bresler – Bentley University

Bresler helped Bentley to a 2-0 week, as the Falcons defeated Stonehill, 11-9, and #15 Assumption, 10-7. At Stonehill the graduate student posted 11 saves, three ground balls, and a caused turnover, including a key CTO and GB on the final possession to seal the win. In Saturday's win over then #16 Assumption, Bresler recorded 11 saves and two ground balls to help Bentley avenge their only loss of the season so far.

Division III

Offensive Player of the Week

Rachel Delate – Messiah College

Delate tied a career-high with 10 points against Widener in a 19-7 win on Saturday with five goals and five assists, while also netting two goals against #6 York earlier in the week as the Falcons remained undefeated with a 14-8 victory over the top-10 opponent. Delate, a sophomore attacker, finished the week with 12 points on seven goals and five assists, and also added two ground balls and three draw controls.

Defensive Player of the Week

Katie Pileggi – Kean University

Pileggi recorded seven caused turnovers and scooped eight ground balls to lead the Cougars to a 1-1 week. She also recorded a team-best six draw controls and was the team’s leading scorer with five goals and an assist across the two contests, a 5-14 loss to #23 Montclair and an 8-7 win over Stockton. Pileggi caused five turnovers in the 8-7 comeback win over Stockton, helping the Cougar defense clamp down and limit Stockton to just one second-half goal.
