IWLCA Players of the Week – March 30, 2021

The IWLCA has chosen six NCAA student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week of March 22 – March 28, 2021. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, and III each week during the regular season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Jen Barry – Boston University

Barry led the Terriers to a 17-12 victory over Holy Cross, setting the program single-game draw control record with 18. The sophomore midfielder broke the previous mark of 13 in the first half, collecting 16 draws. Her 18 draw controls are the most of any Division I NCAA student-athlete in a single game this season. Barry also added a ground ball, and set new career marks in goals (3), assists (3) and points (6).

Defensive Player of the Week

Bridget Deehan – University of Notre Dame

Deehan posted 12 saves (.571 save %) in the Irish’s 13-9 win over then #9 Duke on the road last week, including eight in the second half. The senior netminder also collected a career-high six ground balls and caused a turnover for fifth ranked Notre Dame.

Offensive Player of the Week

Erin McMullen – Le Moyne College

McMullen registered eight points (six goals and two assists) and collected 11 draw controls in Le Moyne's 2-0 week. The senior attacker posted three goals, seven draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover in a 19-3 win over Saint Rose and notched three goals, two assists, one caused turnover, and four draw controls in a 14-3 victory over then third-ranked Adelphi on Sunday. Le Moyne is 3-0 on the season and currently ranked #3 in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll.

Defensive Player of the Week

Jessica Berg – Regis University

Berg, a graduate student, broke the school record for draw controls in a single game as she collected 15 in a 17-8 win against the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs last weekend. Additionally, the midfielder tied the record for most ground balls in single-game history for the #11 Rangers as she scooped up 12 ground balls and added an assist, and nine caused turnovers.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Jacqui Hallack – Ithaca College

Hallack totaled 11 goals, two assists, 16 draw controls, and one caused turnover in a 2-0 weekend for Ithaca as the Bombers defeated RIT, 19-8 and 21-9. The senior midfielder was named the Liberty League’s Offensive Performer of the Week, as Ithaca improved to 4-0 and moved up to #10 in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Katie Walsh – Fairleigh Dickinson University

Walsh led the Devils to a 2-0 week with victories over Stevens (15-13) and King’s (20-2). The first-year midfielder finished the week with nine goals, one assist, 14 draw controls, nine ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers. Walsh earned the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week award as FDU improved to 6-0 on the season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Riley DiFiore – York College

DiFiore led York with a season-high nine saves and a ground ball in just under 54 minutes of action as the Spartans beat previously undefeated Stevenson 14-8. The junior goalkeeper made three big saves in a span of 66 seconds in the closing minutes of the first half to help give her team a seven-goal lead heading into halftime. York is now 5-0 on the season and ranked seventh in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll.
