2021 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll – March 8, 2021
The University of North Carolina (6-0) retained the unanimous number one ranking in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll this week, as did Syracuse (3-0), Northwestern (3-0), and Notre Dame (2-0) in the second through fourth positions. Florida (3-1) moved into the top five, while Stony Brook (4-2) dropped to number six, and Penn State (2-0), Virginia (3-0), and Maryland (2-1) remained locked into their spots, ranked seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Boston College (3-1) displaced Duke (4-2) at number 10. New entrants to the poll, Drexel (5-0) and Elon (2-0), bumped Ohio State (1-5) into the receiving votes category and Massachusetts out of the poll entirely.
Top-25 action this week kicks off on Wednesday, when Johns Hopkins (RV) welcomes #9 Maryland, followed by two ACC matchups on Thursday: top ranked North Carolina at #13 Virginia Tech, and #4 Notre Dame at #2 Syracuse. Navy (#18) hosts #14 Loyola, Boston College (#10) welcomes #8 Virginia, and Virginia Tech and Carolina face off again on Saturday. The Notre Dame and Syracuse rematch happens on Sunday, along with #20 Southern California at #21 Stanford in a Pac-12 clash.
