IWLCA Players of the Week – March 2, 2021
The IWLCA has chosen six NCAA student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week of February 22 – February 28, 2021. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, and III each week during the regular season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Lucy Schneidereith – Drexel University
Schneidereith led Drexel to wins over Saint Joseph's (13-12) and Georgetown (21-9) last week, helping Drexel start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2013. Against Saint Joseph's, Scheidereith scored five goals, including the game-tying goal with 2:02 left in regulation to force an overtime period, and also added two ground balls. The senior midfielder scored a career-high eight goals and added a pair of ground balls against the Hoyas and was named the CAA Player of the Week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Asa Goldstock – Syracuse University
Asa Goldstock recorded 11 saves in Syracuse’s 16-6 win over #5 Stony Brook this past weekend. The graduate student also had two ground balls and caused one turnover. The Orange are currently the second ranked team in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll, and the win over Stony Brook was their second win against a ranked opponent.
Offensive Player of the Week
Abigail Lagos – University of Indianapolis
Lagos poured in seven goals to lead the Greyhounds offensively in their 15-5 win over then #4 Queens University. The senior’s effort tied her career high for goals, and she also chipped in with a ground ball. After the win, UIndy moved up to #4 in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, and Lagos was named Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Cassidy King – University of Indianapolis
King, a junior netminder, held Queens to five goals while posting 12 saves and collecting two ground balls in their 15-5 win. After the win, UIndy moved up to #4 in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, and King was named Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Alyson Bittinger – Shenandoah University
Bittinger recorded seven points in an 18-15 loss to seventh ranked Salisbury last Saturday. The junior midfielder’s six goals led all goal scorers, and she also contributed three draw controls on the day. Despite the loss, the Hornets earned its first-ever national ranking, checking in at #25 in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll this week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Carly Ross – John Carroll University
Ross led John Carroll to a 19-1 victory against Heidelberg last Saturday, making plays all over the field. The senior midfielder’s stat line included two goals, one assist, two ground balls, and three caused turnovers. John Carroll improved to 2-0 with the win.
