Daemen College, Head Coach

Daemen College seeks candidates for a 10-month full-time position as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach to plan, organize, direct, and monitor all activities of the new intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse program including the recruitment, conditioning and training of the student athletes and is responsible for student athlete behavior/conduct and academic eligibility. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in related field
  • At least two years of experience coaching women’s lacrosse at the high school, college or higher competitive level
  • Valid driver's license required.  License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Technical knowledge in all aspects of coaching Women's Lacrosse; effective oral and written communication skills with demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes.
  • Awareness of various learning styles.
  • High standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Abilities:

  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background, and sexual orientation of community college students.
  • Coaching and/or playing college level Women's Lacrosse.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Duties:

  • Recruit and retain student athletes each academic year.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, rules, procedures, and policies for the program as established by the NCAA , East Coast Conference, and Daemen College.
  • Train student athletes in conditioning, skills and strategy development.
  • Schedule practices and competitions.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director for Travel, arrange for travel with team to off-campus competitions; travel with team.
  • Work closely with Women's Lacrosse coaches from area schools and local girl’s lacrosse clubs to develop rapport and enhance recruitment of student athletes.
  • Submit travel & reimbursement requests, and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Attend Division of Athletic and conference meetings as required.
  • Manage the budget for the Women's Lacrosse program.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Athletic Operations, analyze equipment needs and inventory; order equipment and uniforms as necessary.
  • Organize and supervise all levels of  assistant coaches and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Excellent fringe benefits are available. Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and includes health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service.
