The IWLCA has announced the lineup of presenters for the Future Leaders of the Game: IWLCA Students of Color Coaching Symposium, scheduled for January 4-5, 2021. University of Cincinnati head coach Gina Oliver Thomas has been tabbed as the keynote speaker for the event, which is designed to empower and encourage student-athletes to consider coaching girl’s and women’s lacrosse as a possible career choice. The symposium will be facilitated by a varied group of coaches and administrators to provide participants with the tools, mentors, and career advancement connections to diversify the pool of coaches in women’s lacrosse.

“We have a great lineup of presenters for the Symposium, and the topics that will be covered are valuable to the participants as they prepare to embark on a career in athletics,” said Ricky Fried, the head coach at Georgetown University and a member of the planning committee for the Symposium. “It’s impressive how many coaches have been willing to work to not only make the Symposium happen, but to ensure that we provide the participants with a valuable experience that has the potential to profoundly impact their future and change the complexion of our sport.”

The Future Leaders of the Game: IWLCA Students of Color Coaching Symposium will consist of presentations on relevant coaching topics, small group sessions designed to stimulate discussion and enhance personal growth, and social/networking opportunities to allow interaction between participants and the Symposium faculty, IWLCA member coaches, and other prominent women’s lacrosse figures.
