SPARKS, Md. — For the second year in a row, the U.S. women’s national team will be showcased at the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s (IWLCA) President’s Cup, one of the largest college recruiting events in the country.

The IWLCA President’s Cup, featuring approximately 400 club teams with high school aged athletes from around the country, will be held from Nov. 22-24 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Highlighting Team USA’s involvement with the President’s Cup will be an exhibition game against a select team from the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m. at The International Polo Club. The game will be played using the trial rules developed by World Lacrosse to best position the sport for potential Olympic consideration.

“We are very excited to host the U.S. Women's National Team and the professional players from the WPLL at the IWLCA President's Cup Recruiting Tournament,” said Kathy Taylor, president of the IWLCA and the head coach at Colgate. “It is our honor to be able to showcase the absolute highest level of women's lacrosse talent in the world and expose the nearly 10,000 young women participating in the tournament to the role models they aspire to emulate.”

The U.S. women’s team and the WPLL played an exhibition under similar rules at last year’s President’s Cup with the U.S. holding off the WPLL for a 10-9 victory on a late save by Liz Hogan.

In addition to the WPLL exhibition, the U.S. team will play a Blue-White exhibition game using traditional international women’s lacrosse rules on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Village Park Athletics Complex (located adjacent to The International Polo Club). U.S. team members will also serve as guest coaches for the participating club teams during the weekend and hold training sessions open to the public.

“The overall event last year was dynamic and exciting,” said Jenny Levy, U.S. team head coach and the head coach at the University of North Carolina. “Our players had fun, the club players had fun. US Lacrosse, the IWLCA and the WPLL all have a similar vision to grow the sport. The President’s Cup is an opportunity to bring all of these entities together.”

The U.S. women’s national team trains and plays using best-in-class products provided by Nike (apparel and footwear), Brine (equipment) STX (equipment), SISU Guard (mouthguards), Pearl Lacrosse (balls) and DJO (sports braces).
