Junk Brands Champions Cup Concludes in Richmond

The 2019 IWLCA JUNK Brands Champions Cup was held this weekend at two facilities in the Chesterfield County, VA area. The River City Sportsplex and Clover Hill Athletic Complex hosted over 10,000 participants and spectators during the three-day event.

A total of 4,300 prospective student-athletes from 233 club teams  participated in 469 games throughout the recruiting tournament. These players had the opportunity to be evaluated by 375 coaches representing more than 260 collegiate programs competing at the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels. 

The Champions Cup also played host to two WPLL games this weekend. The Fight defeated the Brave 15-12 on Friday and the Pride took down the Command, 18-5, on Saturday. Both games enjoyed large crowds of spectators who had the chance to cheer on their favorite women's lacrosse stars, including Taylor Cummings, Kayla Treanor, Kylie Ohlmiller, Katrina Dowd, Dana Dobbie, Sam Apuzzo, Marie McCool, and Liz Hogan. The WPLL players hosted an a meet and greet/autograph session after the games.

The Champions Cup is the second event in the summer recruiting series managed by Corrigan Sports Enterprises. Next up will be the JUNK Brands Midwest Cup at the Stuart Sports Complex on July 13-14 in Aurora, IL, followed by the STX Capital Cup, which will take place at Calvert Regional Park in North East, MD from July 18 - 21, 2019.
