Middlebury Holds No. 1; Tufts Rises after OT Win
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.— The unbeaten Middlebury Panthers remain steady at No. 1 in the latest Division III Coaches Poll. Following a dominant win over No. 12 Colby this past Saturday, Middlebury heads into the final stretch of the regular season with three NESCAC contests remaining, including ranked matchups against Amherst and Williams.
Tufts climbs one spot to No. 2 after securing a key overtime victory over then-No. 2 Wesleyan. Despite the setback, the Cardinals rebounded with a 10–6 win over No. 7 William Smith on Sunday and slide to No. 3 in this week’s rankings.
Salisbury (14–0, 1–0 C2C) holds firm at No. 4 after defeating No. 18 TCNJ this past weekend. The Sea Gulls have two regular-season games remaining, including a conference matchup against Christopher Newport on April 25.
Rounding out the Top 5 is Amherst. The Mammoths earned wins over Connecticut College and No. 19 Williams this past week and have three games left in the regular season, with matchups against Middlebury and TCNJ still ahead.
In total, 25 teams are represented in the poll, with voters—college coaches from across the nation—reflecting the latest results across women’s lacrosse. The rankings are based on weekly performances, with the poll set to be released each Monday throughout the season.
