IWLCA Players of the Week –May 12, 2026

NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – The IWLCA has chosen six student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week ending May 10, 2026. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II and III during the postseason.

Division I

Offensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Chung—United States Naval Academy

Chung, a Tewaaraton finalist, delivered the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Navy to an 11–10 victory over Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Across the first and second rounds, the sophomore attacker totaled six goals, three assists, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lucy Pearson—Stanford University

Pearson anchored Stanford’s defense through the opening two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, totaling 14 saves while facing 45 shots and allowing 17 goals. She recorded nine saves while allowing just five goals in Stanford’s first-round win over Penn State, then added five saves in a second-round victory over Michigan. Pearson also contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers across the two contests.


Division II

Offensive Player of the Week
Paige Murphy—Maryville University

Murphy led Maryville to an NCAA Second Round victory over No. 24 Rockhurst with a dominant second-half performance. After the Saints held a narrow 5–4 halftime lead, Murphy scored five second-half goals to help pull away for the win. During the game, she surpassed 100 goals on the season and became the first player in Division I or II history to record at least 100 goals in three separate seasons. She finished with six goals and two assists for eight points in the game. This is Murphy’s second accolade this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Molly Atwell—East Stroudsburg University

Atwell shifted the momentum in East Stroudsburg’s Atlantic Region Semifinal win over West Chester with a career-high 13 draw controls in the Warriors’ 23–15 victory. All 13 came after the opening quarter, including six in the fourth, as ESU outscored the Golden Rams 19–10 over the final three periods. The Warriors scored four goals directly following Atwell draw controls, helping build a 13–7 halftime advantage. Her 13 draw controls more than doubled her previous career high and helped ESU dominate the draw battle, 25–15.


Division III

Offensive Player of the Week
Brookelyn Morrison—Christopher Newport University

Morrison starred across two NCAA Tournament rounds, totaling five goals, eight assists, 14 draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. She also helped orchestrate one of the greatest comebacks in program history as No. 22 Christopher Newport erased a three-goal deficit to upset No. 11 Washington and Lee, 8–7, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. This is Morrison's second IWLCA accolade this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lindsey Diomede—Wesleyan University

Diomede anchored Wesleyan’s defense in a dominant second-round NCAA Tournament victory over Cortland, recording five caused turnovers, four ground balls, and one draw control.
