2024–25 IWLCA Award Winners and Hall of Fame Inductees Celebrated in St. Pete
The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recognized and celebrated its 2024–25 award recipients during the 2025 IWLCA Convention, held at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida. The Community Awareness, Victory Club, President’s Cup, Outstanding Assistant Coach, Kristina Quigley Scholarship, and the Regional and National Coaching Staffs of the Year awards were presented during an awards luncheon on Wednesday, November 19. The IWLCA also honored recipients of the Service Award, Tina Sloan Green Award, and the Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Award, along with the Class of 2025 Hall of Fame inductees, during the IWLCA Honors Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, November 20.
“It was awesome to celebrate the achievements of our members in person,” said Kelly Gallagher, IWLCA President and head coach at the University of Tampa. “Being able to see the joy on coaches’ faces as they reconnect and support each other is one of the things that makes Convention special, and the awards presentations are a highlight for everyone.”
Wednesday’s luncheon began with Victory Club recognitions honoring coaches who achieved major career milestones during the 2025 season. Nine coaches reached 100 career wins, seven surpassed 200 victories, and Millersville University head coach Michael Faith earned his 300th win.
Before the remaining awards were presented, attendees heard from guest speaker Becky Burleigh, Co-Founder of What Drives Winning and former University of Florida Women’s Soccer Head Coach.
The Presidents Cup Award was then presented to the Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Officiating Association (CWLOA), represented by Executive Director Joan Sitterly.
The 2025 Outstanding Assistant Coach Awards followed, honoring Gabby Capuzzi Solomon of the U.S. Naval Academy, Jordan Anderson of Slippery Rock University, and a representative accepting on behalf of Nicky Clauter of York College (PA).
The luncheon concluded with the presentation of the 2025 National Coaching Staffs of the Year, recognizing the staffs from the University of North Carolina, the University of Tampa, Middlebury College, and Benedictine College.
To close the event, Kristina Quigley Scholarship recipients Kristen Nicholson (Kutztown University) and Renee Miller (Robert Morris University) joined their spouses and children on stage to share their appreciation for the opportunity and the support of the IWLCA community.
Thursday’s Honors Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony opened with recognition of the IWLCA Service Award recipient, Nicole Grote. Grote, assistant coach at Saint Joseph’s University, expressed her gratitude and reflected humorously on juggling convention planning with wedding preparations—remarking, “I hope to receive a YES from you all to attend my wedding just as you all said YES to attending convention!” The award was presented by Megan Smith, Lee University head coach and Division II Board Member.
The Tina Sloan Green Award, which honors individuals or teams that advance equity and inclusion in lacrosse, was awarded to Madison Moten, a senior defender at Temple University. As Director of Community Outreach for Temple’s Black Student-Athlete Association, Moten has led impactful initiatives that strengthen community ties and elevate the voices of Black student-athletes. Temple Head Coach Bonnie Rosen presented the award.
The IWLCA’s highest honor, the Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Award, was presented to West Chester University Head Coach Ginny Martino. Named for the legendary Loyola coach whose courageous battle with cancer inspired the nation, this award recognizes lifetime achievement in women’s collegiate lacrosse. Seton Hill University Head Coach Dina Cifelli introduced Martino.
The IWLCA concluded its annual celebration with the induction of two coaches into the Hall of Fame: University of North Carolina head coach Jenny Levy and University of Maryland head coach Cathy Reese.
Both honorees were joined by close family, friends, former players as well as peer coaches to celebrate their remarkable achievement.
