IWLCA Releases Week 4 Polls

 

 

 

IWLCA Division I Poll, Week 4

Maryland, Northwestern rank 1-2 in poll yet again

      For a fourth consecutive week, the Maryland Terrapins and the Northwestern Wildcats both collected all 20 first-place and 20 second-place votes, respectively, as the two schools remain 1-2 in the polls. The same 20 teams remain in the polls from the previous two weeks and shuffling was minimal as the same top-10 schools remained in the upper half of the poll. Princeton and Albany both improved three spots from last week’s rankings.

 

      The ACC continues to lead all conferences with five schools, starting with top-ranked Maryland. Duke (No. 3), North Carolina (No. 5), and Virginia (No. 8) remain steady from last week while Boston College moves up to.No. 19.

      The Big East claims four schools, starting with Loyola, who leads the conference in the top-10 at No. 6. Syracuse (No. 11) and Georgetown (No. 13) also held their ground, while Notre Dame fell to No. 17.

 

      The American Lacrosse Conference and the Ivy Group are both represented by three schools. The ALC’s Northwestern remained at No. 2 with all 20 second-place votes, while Florida continued its ascent in the rankings to a program-high No. 9 and Vanderbilt moved to No. 15. The Ivy Group’s Penn remains in the top-four at No. 4, while Princeton is one of the fastest risers this week, climbing to No. 12. Dartmouth remained at No. 18.

 

      The CAA has two schools, with James Madison rounding out the top-10 at No. 10 and William & Mary remaining at No. 16.

 

      Stanford from the MPSF holds at No. 7. Albany from the America East continued to rise, moving up to No. 17, while Massachusetts from the Atlantic 10 moved to No. 20.

 

      On Wednesday the No. 2 Wildcats host No. 11 Syracuse while the No. 10 Dukes welcome the No. 8 Cavaliers. On Saturday top-ranked Maryland hosts No. 10 JMU and No. 2 Northwestern travels to face No. 20 Massachusetts. Two ACC games between ranked opponents will take place as No. 8 Virginia hosts No. 3 Duke and No. 19 Boston College goes on the road to take on No. 5 UNC. On Sunday, No. 13 Georgetown travels north to face No. 12 Princeton and No. 7 Stanford flies east to draw against No. 15 Vanderbilt.

IWLCA Division II Poll, Week 4

Panthers hold on to top spot, Limestone picks up a first-place vote

      The Adelphi Panthers continue their run atop the weekly polls this week, but there was more shuffling this week as Lock Haven moves up to No. 2 and Limestone takes a top vote away from Adelphi. Rollins breaks into the rankings for the first time in 2011 and Stonehill moves up two spots to sit at No. 6.

 

      The PSAC continues to lead all conferences with four schools, as Lock Haven rises to No. 2 and Mercyhurst (No. 7), West Chester (No. 8), and Gannon (No. 9) form a block in the second half of the poll. The Northeast-10’s three schools are led by top-ranked Adelphi; Le Moyne moves up to No. 4 and Stonehill rises to No. 6.

 

      Three conferences each claim one school. Limestone (No. 3) represents the Conference Carolinas, while C. W. Post hails from the ECC. Rollins, the new member of the poll, competes as an independent.

 

      Top-ranked Adelphi travels to No. 4 LeMoyne on Wednesday. The No. 8 Golden Rams host two ranked teams this week, as No. 9 Gannon travels to WCU on Friday before No. 7 Mercyhurst comes to town on Saturday.

 

      The next weekly poll will be released on March 28.

IWLCA Division III Poll, Week 4

Salisbury remains at No. 1 for fifth consecutive week

      The Salisbury Sea Gulls hold steady at No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week, staying one spot ahead of Hamilton as the Continentals remain at No. 2. While the top-10 schools remain the same from last week, three new schools break into the rankings, including Messiah at No. 16 and a pair of New York schools, William Smith and St. John Fisher, at Nos. 19 and 20.

     

      The NESCAC continues to lead all conferences with a record seven schools in the poll, with Trinity leading the conference, sitting at No. 5. Colby remains just behind the Bantams at No. 6, with Williams staying in the top-10 at No. 10. Tufts  moves up to lead off the second half of the poll at No. 11, while Middlebury (No. 13) and Bowdoin (No. 15) hold steady. Amherst moves to No. 18. 

     

      Four different conferences claim two schools each. The Centennial Conference has two institutions in the top-10, with Gettysburg rising to No. 4 and Franklin & Marshall moving to No. 7. Top-ranked Salisbury from the Capital Athletic Conference is joined by Mary Washington, who dropped to No. 17. The Liberty League’s Hamilton is joined by William Smith, who enters at No. 19. Stevens, from the Empire 8, is joined by poll newcomer St. John’s Fisher, who sits at No. 20.

     

      Five leagues are each represented by one school, including the NJAC, the SUNYAC, the ODAC, the Landmark, and the MAC. TCNJ from the NJAC holds at No. 3 and Cortland from the SUNYAC remains at No. 8. The Landmark’s Catholic moves up to No. 12 while the ODAC’s Washington & Lee moves to No. 14; Messiah from the MAC gives that conference their first ranking of the year as the Falcons come in at No. 16.

     

      The week opens up with No. 11 Tufts traveling to No. 9 Stevens on Monday. On Tuesday, a top-10 matchup takes place in New York as No. 2 Hamilton hosts the No. 8 Red Dragons of Cortland. No. 17 Mary Washington welcomes No. 10 Williams, and No. 19 William Smith welcomes fellow poll newcomer and 20th-ranked St. John Fisher on Tuesday as well. No. 12 Catholic meets No. 4 Gettysburg on the road on Wednesday, while top-ranked Salisbury goes on the road to meet No. 7 Franklin & Marshall on Friday. On Saturday, a trio of NESCAC games is on the docket, including No. 15 Bowdoin at No. 18 Amherst, No. 11 Tufts hosting No. 10 Williams, and No. 5 Trinity drawing against No. 6 Colby in Florida.
