IWLCA Releases Week 3 Polls

IWLCA Division I Poll, Week 3

Terps top poll for fourth straight week

      The Maryland Terrapins and the Northwestern Wildcats both collected all 20 first-place and 20 second-place votes for a third consecutive week as the two schools remain 1-2 in the polls. The same 20 teams remain in the polls from last week, including Florida, who was the week’s fastest riser. The second-year Gators jumped from No. 14 to round out the top-10 at No. 10.

 

      The ACC continues to lead all conferences with five schools, led by No. 1 Maryland. Duke holds at No. 3 and UNC remains at No. 5, while Virginia fell to No. 8 Boston College dropped to No. 20.

 

      The Big East claims four schools, starting with Loyola, who leads the conference in the top-10 at No. 6. Syracuse moved up to start off the second half of the poll at No. 11, while Georgetown sits just ahead of Notre Dame at No. 13.

 

      The American Lacrosse Conference and the Ivy Group are both represented by three schools. The ALC has two in the top-10, including Northwestern at No. 2 and Florida, the newcomer to the top half of the poll at No. 10. Vanderbilt moved up one spot to No. 12. The Ivy Group leads off with No. 4 Penn and is followed by No. 15 Princeton, up two from last week, and No. 17 Dartmouth.

 

      The CAA has two schools, with James Madison moving up to No. 9 and William & Mary, who also rose, going  up to No. 16.  Stanford from the MPSF continues to rise in the polls, going to No. 7. Albany from the America East moved up to No. 17, while Massachusetts from the Atlantic 10 jumped up one to No. 19.

 

      On Wednesday, March 16, there are two ranked games in the Commonwealth of Virginia as the No. 9 Dukes host No. 15 Princeton and the No. 8 Cavaliers welcome the No. 16 Tribe. On Saturday, March 19, 14 ranked teams face off against each other, including the No. 2 Wildcats’ hosting the No. 16 Tribe in Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Also that day, the No. 3 Blue Devils welcome No. 18 Dartmouth while just up the road, the No. 5 Tar Heels host the No. 13 Hoyas. No. 6 Loyola hosts No. 9 James Madison, and No. 8 Virginia welcomes No. 15 Princeton. The No. 10 Gators play No. 11 Syracuse while the No. 17 Great Danes travel to face No. 19 Massachusetts.  The week closes out as No. 1 Maryland travels to face ACC rival and 20th-ranked Boston College on Sunday.

IWLCA Division II Poll, Week 3

Adelphi continues run on top of poll

      The Adelphi Panthers continue to hold all ten first-place votes for the fourth consecutive poll and are the nation’s top-ranked team yet again this week. C. W. Post moves back up to No. 2, just edging the undefeated Saints of Limestone who move to No. 3.

 

      The PSAC leads all conferences with four schools. Lock Haven moves to No. 4 while West Chester and Mercyhurst hold at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Gannon moves up one spot to No. 8. The Northeast-10 boasts three institutions, led by No. 1 Adelphi. LeMoyne stays at No. 5 while Stonehill moves to No. 9. C. W. Post from the ECC moves to No. 2 and Dowling holds at No. 10. Limestone, from the Conference Carolinas, slips to No. 3.

 

      The week closes with a bang as No. 2 C. W. Post hosts No. 4 Lock Haven on Sunday.

IWLCA Division III Poll, Week 3

Sea Gulls sit at No. 1 for fourth week

            The Salisbury Sea Gulls continue their run at the No. 1 ranking this week, and Hamilton sits rights behind them at No. 2 as the same 20 schools stay in the rankings for Week 4. The top-10 and the second 10 remain the same, with some shuffling, including Bowdoin’s jumping four spots to land at No. 15. 

 

      For a fourth consecutive poll, the NESCAC tied the record with seven schools in the rankings, with three in the top-10 as Trinity holds at No. 6, Colby moves up to No. 7, and Williams moves to No. 10. Tufts moves up one spot to No. 12, and Middlebury also rises to No. 13. Bowdoin jumps up to No. 15 and Amherst holds at No. 17. 

 

      The Capital Athletic Conference ranks second with three schools, starting with the No. 1 Sea Gulls. Mary Washington moves up to No. 16 and Stevenson remains at No. 20.

 

      The Centennial Conference and the Liberty League both have two schools representing them. Franklin & Marshall just edges Gettysburg for the No. 4 spot in the Centennial Conference while in the Liberty League, Hamilton holds at No. 2 and Union moves to No. 17.

 

      Six conferences are represented by one institution each. TCNJ from the NJAC rises to No. 3, while the SUNYAC’s Cortland moves to No. 8. Stevens of the Empire 8 rises one spot to No. 9, while the ODAC’s Washington & Lee holds steady at No. 11. Catholic of the Landmark holds at  No. 14. while Babson from the NEWMAC moves to No. 19.

 

      On Monday, March 14, No. 5 Gettysburg plays No. 9 Stevens. On Wednesday, a top-five matchup takes place as No. 2 Hamilton faces the No. 5 Bullets in Orlando. The No. 11 Generals host the No. 8 Red Dragons on the same day. On Friday, No. 12 Tufts travels to No. 7 Colby. On Saturday, No. 6 Trinity travels to face No. 15 Bowdoin while No. 11 Washington & Lee faces No. 14 Catholic in DC. The week closes out as No. 1 Salisbury hosts conference rival and 20th-ranked Stevenson on Sunday. No. 4 Franklin & Marshall and No. 19 Babson are both participating in SpringFling 2011 and could face each other as well.
