The IWLCA will be recognizing eleven Trailblazers this weekend in a dedication ceremony held at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. The event will be held in conjunction with the dedication of the Chris Sailer Trail, which will be named in honor of the legendary Princeton head coach on Saturday, October 21. A full schedule for the day can be found HERE.
The wording below is listed on the main Trailblazers plaque:
These women were instrumental in leading the transition of the collegiate game of women's lacrosse from the physical education departments to varsity status beginning in the late 1960s through the 1980s.
As pioneers, they laid the foundation for women’s lacrosse before Title IX, and then, with the support of that law, they promoted the growth of the sport and the advancement of women in college athletics.
For their commitment, perseverance and spirit, we celebrate their legacy.
