2017 IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll – May 8, 2017

 

The College of New Jersey (15-1) claimed the NJAC championship and the top spot in the final regular season IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll with 19 of 20 first-place votes. Washington and Lee (16-1), the ODAC Champion, is the number two team. Colby (15-3) moves into third after defeating Middlebury and Trinity to claim the NESCAC championship, and Messiah (15-2), the top team in the Commonwealth Conference, remains in fourth. On the strength of their performance in the Centennial Conference tournament, Franklin & Marshall (16-4) jumps into the top five. The Liberty League champs, William Smith (18-1), sit at #6, followed by Gettysburg (16-3), Middlebury (13-4), Salisbury (13-5), and Trinity (14-4) rounding out the top ten.

In the lower half of the poll, York (14-3) and Hamilton (12-5) drop to #11 and 12 respectively. Catholic (13-4), the Landmark Conference champion, moves up a spot to #13, and Cortland (14-4) moves into the #14 spot after clinching the SUNYAC title. Mary Washington (14-5) holds tight at #15, while Wesleyan (11-5) moves up to #16 after earning their first NCAA tournament bid in program history. Ithaca (13-4) tumbles to #17 after losing in the Empire Eight tournament to St. John Fisher (14-4), who jumps back in the poll at #18. Brockport (15-2) and Tufts (10-6) round out the top twenty.
