IWLCA Fast Break Players of the Week – April 26, 2017

 

The IWLCA is pleased to announce the Fast Break Players of the Week for April 26, 2017:

Division I Offensive Player of the WeekKylie Drexel, Southern California

Drexel helped lead USC to two road wins over Stanford and UC Davis last week, contributing nine goals, five assists, four ground balls, one caused turnover, and five draw controls to her team’s effort. The senior attacker was three-for-three on free positions for the #7 Trojans, and recorded her 14th and 15th career hat tricks in the games.

Division I Defensive Player of the WeekAnna Tesoriero, Stony Brook

Tesoriero made 12 saves while holding UMBC to only eight goals, six under their scoring average, as the #4 Seawolves collected their 14th win of the season last week. Currently the sophomore leads the nation for goals against average (7.27) and also leads the America East in that category.

Division II Offensive Player of the WeekAbbi O’Neal, Grand Valley State

O’Neal scored five of her team’s last seven goals to lead GVSU to a 16-15 come from behind victory over McKendree last week. The freshman recorded the game-tying and game winning goals, and also added four draw controls and a caused turnover in the win.

Division II Defensive Player of the WeekHannah George, Le Moyne

George led the Le Moyne defense to a 2-0 week, posting 11 saves, a .500 save percentage, and a 5.50 goals against average in wins over Adelphi and Southern Connecticut State. The Dolphins knocked off top-ranked Adelphi as their freshman goalkeeper made three saves in the final 11 minutes to preserve the 5-4 victory.

Division III Co-Offensive Player of the WeekEmilie Klein, Colby

Klein posted two goals, four assists, nine caused turnovers, five ground balls, and four draw controls in a 2-0 week that included wins over Middlebury and Colorado College. The senior midfielder assisted on the game-tying goal against Middlebury and added an insurance goal as the Mules scored the last four goals of the game to win 9-6.

Division III Co-Offensive Player of the WeekAlly Runyon, Ithaca

Runyon led the Bombers to a 1-1 week, tallying five goals in a one goal loss to Hamilton, and another five in a win over Houghton. In the process, the senior attacker became the first player in Ithaca history to reach the 200-career-goal milestone.

Division III Defensive Player of the WeekHayley Solomon, Washington College

Solomon had a busy week in net, making 31 saves and posting a .608 save percentage to go 1-1 in two games last week. She posted a career high 18 saves in a loss to #9 Franklin & Marshall, and 13 saves in a win over Haverford. The senior also contributed five ground balls and two caused turnovers in the two games.

Players from each NCAA Division are chosen as the Fast Break Players of the Week and announced during the broadcast of “Fast Break: IWLCA College Lacrosse Weekly” on Lax Sports Network. The show will air at 7:30 pm EDT on Wednesdays throughout the season.
