The IWLCA has recognized 369 student-athletes at 156 institutions for their excellence in the classroom during the 2009-10 academic year. All student-athletes were nominated by their institutions and have attained at least junior standing academically. Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10 percent of their squad.

The IWLCA has recognized nine schools as earning Merit Squad status while 118 other institutions earned Academic Squad honors for the 2010 season. Institutions were named Merit Squads by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season for each division; every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors.

The IWLCA, working in conjunction with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. (CSE), is proud to announce the creation of the deBeer President’s Cup presented by the IWLCA. The ultimate girls club lacrosse tournament will coincide with the association’s annual meeting in beautiful Naples, Fla. and take place from November 20th-21st, 2010.

The IWLCA has honored 18 student-athletes for their achievements during the 2010 season, including 12 positional players of the year as well as three IWLCA Scholar-Athletes and three IWLCA Community Awareness recipients. The presentations were made at the IWLCA All-American Banquet, held at the Crown Valley Plaza in King of Prussia, Pa. on June 12.

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, the IWLCA 2010 Division I, II & III North-South All Stars held their annual contests at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA. The games were held in conjunction with the IWLCA Champions Cup recruiting tournament.

The 2010 IWLCA/Under Armour Champions & Capital Cups at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA and the Maryland Soccer Plex were a huge success with record attendance attracting 255 club programs with over 5000 student-athletes participating and over 500 college coaches in attendance to watch the contest. Parents and coaches raved that there are no other tournaments in the country that attract over 500 IWLCA college coaches to watch their players.

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Region teams for 2010. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 31.

The IWLCA has announced the final series of awards for the 2008-09 season, including the Diane Geppi-Aikens Lifetime Achievement Award, the IWLCA Service Award, and the President’s Cup for outstanding service to the game. In addition, the team community service awards were named along with the Assistant Coaches of the Year.
